A bit of both

Black/white and color.
I thought these pictures were a little bit too busy in full color so I played with them a little bit.

Some one probably would have redone the second picture to get the frame straighter but I think the crooked frame fits the little girl's cheerful personality.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Toddlers

Taking pictures of toddlers can be challenging. It can be so hard for them to sit still.
I wanted to get a simple picture of my boys for this year's Christmas card, white backdrop, Christmaslights and their Christmas pjs.
The Christmas lights were so interesting to check out that he wouldn't look up.

Checking his brother out.

Tickle tickle!

The little one somehow figured out he could see the pictures on the camera screen and wanted to see every other picture I took.

Even if these pictures are not perfect I will cherish them. I did get a good one for the Christmas card but I have to wait a couple of weeks before I can post it. At least until after I've sent all my cards.

Pixie girls

The Cradle of Forestry has a nice area for playing.

We had some problems with the sun being to bright to start with but still managed to have fun and get good shots. I'll be slowly "leaking" photos from that photo shoot. The mom has some plans for the photos and doesn't want her family to see all of them right now.
I'll be doing the same to my Christmas card photos of my boys.

French Broad

One of my favorite places to take pictures is by the French Broad river in West Asheville.
Of course the parks there can get pretty busy with people and their pets but I still enjoy it.

The park between French Broad Park and Carrier park is my favorite of those three. The trees there are fun "props". The kids can climb in them or play peek a boo. Or there might be bugs to check out or pretty birds. Carrier park is my second favorite with all the pretty flowers in the summertime.

I hope you're having a good start of the week, my household is trying to get rid of a stomach flu so it's only up hill for us ;)

Playing in the rain

Boys will be boys, right? I took these pictures in Iceland last August. We were by the lake for about 4 hours and it rained for at least 3 hours.

The place (Kleifarvatn lake in south-west Iceland) had so many things to explore, caves, cliffs, sand, rocks and water....it was perfect.

The boys would have stayed there all day if we'd have let them. They were so busy. We had snack time in a big cave, out of the rain.

Boy, n.:  a noise with dirt on it.

My two year old

My two year old got these clothes as a birthday present from his grandparents in Iceland. My mom was worried they didn't fit him so I took a few pictures for her.

The pictures were taken by the French Broad River in West Asheville. There are fun trees there to climb but he was a little bit too small for that.
Have a nice weekend :)

First post

My name is Hulda and I like to play...mostly with my camera. I've got to boys who are my targets most of the time. I've always liked photography but have had other things in my life that had my attention. I've been a crafter all my life and for 12 years I played table tennis both in my home country and around Europe. That gave me a chance to travel a lot, which is one of the things I love.  After I started a family I got back into photography and I'm constantly learning new things and trying new things.  This past summer I got to combine my love for travelling and my love for photography. My husband and I took our boys to Iceland to visit with my family and travel to our favorite places there. For the first time I actually felt like a tourist there and took A LOT of pictures.

I have learned that you can get cute picture of kids when you make them pose this way or that way but....you can get even cuter pictures when they are not paying any attention to the camera. You'll get to see a lot of pictures of my boys here and hopefully other children too. If you like my style and would like pictures of your child/children out in nature, being themselves, no fake smiles, shoot me an email!

ETA: I'm having problems editing my profile so here's what it's supposed to say:
I am an Icelander. A mom of two little pixie boys. My goal is capture children's personality in my photos while they are playing and exploring. I mostly do natural light photography. Outside, in the nature, where little pixies can explore and play. Contact me at pixieclixphotos(at)gmail(.)com if you are interested in doing a photo session with me.
